Short-term Goals: |
Brothels is a place were people may come to have sexual activity with a prostitute. This documentary takes place in a brothel were there are seven children living there.
While living in Calcutta, Zana, a photographer from NY city, saw that if someone did not do something for them, they will end up like their parents. These photographer changed their lives.
The seven children that appear in this documentary have different characteristics because their parents have a different future for them. There was a girl named Puja. She was very good at taking pictures and so Zana saw something in her, she for her school but eventually her mom decided to withdrew her from the school. this was something she couldn't do anything because her mom wanted her to work in the red light district. She didn't want this but once she was little she cannot change a bit of her mothers decision. Sometimes woman are very into their work that they do not see what is best for their sons. I will enforce the moms to leave them and let their children decide what they want to to in their lives.
Zana tried to change the seventh children lives with photography. She taught them how to take pictures and to analyze it. With this she created art galleries with their photos and algo she created exhibitions were the children were able to participate. This took place in the United States and the third one was in Amsterdam, but this one only Avijit was invited. He got invited because the president of World Press Photo saw something very special in him. So, Avijit went to Amsterdam representing all of the other children, he got a great tome there, interacting with each other, talking to people all around the world. This was a life changing experience, this changed Avijit's life. He enter into a school and this made him a better person. If I were to live in Calcutta I will encourage him to NEVER leave school.
In this documentary there are a lot of relationships between the girls and the prostitute line, between the children and Zana, between the children and the education in Calcutta, and much more but what you don't see is the relationship that each have with themselves. They are great children but since they live in the red light district no one look to them. They think that they don't deserve anything and that they are not worth it, but they are! Zana made them feel special for a moment but they need to learn how to handle to be alone and have integrity and security. To never let someone bring them down. Also, to ve independent from their parents. As well as overcome their fears and look for their goals in life and achieve it. This is very special in children because if you don't change it when you are little it will very much difficult when you grow up.
For me this documentary change my point of view in my life, because I didn't know that this was happening in another part of the world. i will like to change their lives with something, just to make them fell special and to learn how to take care of themselves. I think this documentary should be shown to everyone in order to appreciate what you have and to value it.
Here there are some notes in order for you to understand the documentary better! |
